Melton Mowbray Pork Pie - to be eaten and judged COLD Description: Entries for this class must comply with the recognised European specification (PGI) of an authentic Melton Mowbray Pork Pie of which details are available at www.mmppa.co.uk Entry: 2 x 454g (1lb) Melton Mowbray Pork Pies, as defined above, to be judged as a pair 2. Pork Pie - to be eaten and judged COLD Description: An open class, for all to enter. Entries may be any size. Pies may be baked in tins, hoops or free standing. Filling may be cured or uncured pork but must be British. 3. Steak and Kidney Pie - to be eaten and judged HOT Description: An open class, for all to enter. Entries may be any shape and may weigh up to 600g. 4. Savoury Pie - to be eaten and judged HOT Description: An open class, for all to enter. Entries may be any shape and may weigh up to 600g. 5. Savoury Pie - to be eaten and judged COLD Description: An open class, for all to enter. Entries may be any shape or size 6. Fish Pie - to be eaten and judged HOT Description: An open class, for all to enter. Entries may be any shape and may weigh up to 600g. 7. Vegetarian Pie - to be eaten and judged HOT Description: An open class, for all to enter. Entries may be any shape and may weigh up to 600g. 8. Cornish Pasty - suitable to be eaten either hot or cold but will be judged COLD Description: Entries for this class must comply with the proposed European specification (PGI) of a genuine Cornish Pasty of which details are available at www.cornishpastyassociation.com Entry: 1 x Cornish Pasty. No weight restriction. Can be crimped by hand or by machine. Beef and vegetables must be British 9. Other Pasty - to be eaten and judged COLD Description: An open class, for all to enter. Entries may be any shape or size. For the purpose of these Awards a pasty is a single piece of pastry folded over and sealed along its edges to contain either savoury or sweet ingredients (occasionally both) and then baked. 10. British Apple Pie - to be eaten and judged COLD Description: An open class, for all to enter. Entries may be any shape or size. The Pie will be judged as an Apple Pie so apples must be British and make up at least 70% of the filling 11. Other Dessert Pie - to be eaten and judged COLD Description: An open class, for all to enter. Entries may be any shape or size 12. Football Pie - a pie commercially sold at football clubs - to be eaten and judged HOT Description: A class open to Football Clubs and/or their suppliers whose entries are commercially sold at their Clubs. The name of only one Club must accompany each entry. Entries may be any shape and may weigh up to 600g. Guest Category – Radio Pie - to be eaten and judged COLD Description: An open class for all. Entries must be submitted by specified Radio Stations or programmes. Unlike the other categories, these pies need not be available commercially (Rules 1 and 2 do not therefore apply). Entries may be any size or shape, sweet or savoury. Regional specialities, recipes and ingredients will be given particular consideration.
